Consumer Drug Information

Welcome to the Consumer Drug Information page. Each of the Consumer Drug Information Sheets posted on this site gives general information about newly approved prescription drugs. Only information about drugs approved since January 1998 appears on this page. Since these drugs are newly approved, they may not yet be on the market. For more information on drug availability, please check with your physician, pharmacist or other health care provider.

Pharmacists from CDER's Drug Information Branch prepare these information sheets based on the drug’s approved package insert. The package insert is written for health care providers. It contains very detailed information about the drug. The manufacturer prepares this information and FDA approves it.

You can read the drug’s complete package insert. Click on the full label link at the bottom of each consumer drug information sheet. Also, some drugs will have detailed FDA-approved information that is prepared especially for patients. When a drug has this information, you will see a special link to it at the bottom of each consumer drug information sheet.

More information on a specific drug can be found by returning to the Drug Information Page. Go to: http://www.fda.gov/cder/about/faq/default.htm#7 for questions to ask your health care provider before taking any new medication.
